All students are members of any two clubs of their interest and a total of 17 clubs are actively functioning in the school campus. The teachers introduce the programmes of each club to the students at the initial days of the school year and the students are registered in various clubs of their choices. The teachers are convenors of various clubs and two special periods are allotted for the club activities every week. The following are the clubs that function currently: 1.GandhiDarsan 2. Leo club Each club is allotted a specific corner and periods.
The school parliament led by the elected student prime minister includes all the class leaders club leaders and SRG nominated members. The parliament consists of various ministers and the prime minister and meets once a week to organize the functionings. The speaker calls for the meetings. The school parliament helps the students to get acquainted with and gather practice in the democratic principles and improve leadership skills and also to ensure active participation of students in other school activities. The videos and records of our school parliament was submitted to the department of education through the MIKAVU programme conducted by the SSA in 2009 and was instructed to be implemented in other schools under the name BALASABHA.
The annual plan which is prepared before the beginning of the academic year by the PTA and SRG helps in the systematic functioning of the school.
Students grading which is done during the initial days of the academic year helps to assess the academic standard of each student and to organize the learning programs accordingly and subsequent changes are analysed.
The continuous evaluation and unit tests after the completion of each units helps to analyse how fruitfully the student absorbs the lesson and what all skills the student should attain by taking remedial lessons etc.
Students are encouraged to record facts and bits of knowledge which they gather from both inside and outside the classrooms in a book titled ‘students encyclopedia’, which will be useful for them in the future and has received wide acceptance . A circular put forward by the DPE in 2016 has been the main impetus behind the endeavour.
Easy English programme helps students regardless of their medium of study to improve their language skills. The programme which includes best performing students as teachers and it is conducted during the free hours has received the whole hearted cooperation of the PTA and school development board.
A student magazine titled Vidyalaya Vishesham is released by each class which helps to improve the creative skills of students. The magazine is enriched with news related to school, stories, poems, pictures etc
SRG Meetings are held every week and helps in the smooth functioning and assessment of various activities in school. The meetings are held on the basis of a proper agenda every wednesday safer the school hours
The class minutes records the daily affairs of the classrooms from morning till evening. The minutes is the responsibility of the class leader and the second leader and is submitted in the office every evening. The scheme was implemented under the control of education minister.
Seven units of scouts and guides function in school open groups. The school which began the scouts and guides programme in 1997 is the school with the most number of units in the district. The school headmaster Sri. A.M Ansari is the district commissioner and Scoutmaster A. Abdullah is the district secretary presently. Numerous scouts and guides from the units have achieved the President's award and RajyaPuraskar award. The open troops in the school provides the high school students of the nearby areas with scouts and guides activities.
The classes start everyday after morning prayer and yoga sessions. This has been the practice for the past ten years. Yoga practice is given to new students from the beginning of the academic year and all students are hence equipped for the same. This has led to many positive improvements in students.
Karate classes are held all throughout the year to all interested students with prime importance given to female students. Students are given practice with the help of an external trainer and are equipped to gain belts.
One special period in every week is allotted for library and a concerned teacher leads the students to the library. Students are given details regarding the distribution of books. The library equipped with thousands of book has granted the students lifetime membership. The open library is accessible to the public after school hours and during holidays.
An information park has been set up with different corners for reading studying and recreational activities. The park is accessible to hundreds of students at a time and has been arranged in the shape of boats round tables and classes. The park consists of a pond with waterlilies and fishes and an open stage and a hut has been set for discussions. The park is filled with trees ad shrubs and a tv and radio has been set up for watching and listening to various programmes. Classes are also conducted here when the classroom session becomes tiring.
